About a month ago, a name fell off the closing credits on The Young and the Restless — Mishael Morgan. It appeared as if the Daytime Emmy winner for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series had exited the CBS soap opera for a second time. Now, the actress has broken her silence on the topic on social media.

Mishael Morgan Is Coming Back

Morgan set the record straight about her status with the top-rated soap after she posted on Twitter a magazine cover on which she appears. “One of my favourite interviews with the one and only Caroline Taylor!” Morgan wrote. “Take a read on your next flight to the Caribbean, or click the link in my story! Thanks #caribbeanbeat @mep_publishers #yr @cbstv. @the.young.restless.”

A fan tweeted to Morgan that she misses seeing the actress on Y&R. “Hopefully we get to see you on screen soon,” wrote @@mscharpf24. Morgan replied: “I’ll be back very soon.”

There’s no word yet on exactly when Morgan will be back on-screen. It might be a while before we see the actress on-air as her character, attorney Amanda Sinclair, was not mentioned in a recent fall preview of Y&R.

Morgan’s departure was, for the most part, not reported on after her name stopped appearing on the Y&R credits. The show doesn’t comment on actors’ contracts. It’s not uncommon for negotiations to go down to the wire and beyond. In the past, a few Y&R actresses have been written off the show because a renewal deal couldn’t be reached, only for the performer to return a month or two later. This appears to be what’s happening/going to happen with Morgan and Y&R.

The Daytime Emmy winner first came to Y&R as Hilary Curtis in 2013. Hilary had a vendetta to score with Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) as she held him responsible for the death of her mother, Rose Turner (Leslie Stevens). Hilary went on to forgive Neil and found herself caught romantically between Neil and his son, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James). She married Neil, but Hilary had an affair with Devon after Neil was temporarily blinded.

RIP, Hilary Hamilton

After Neil and Hilary split, Devon and Hilary got together when he successfully tried to help her become pregnant because she wanted a baby. Tragedy occurred when both Hilary and her unborn child lost their lives following a car accident with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) at the wheel. Devon and Hilary wed on her deathbed shortly before she passed away.

Y&R and Morgan, however, had more business to conduct. After the show went through a creative backstage regime change, Morgan returned to the show. First, she appeared as an apparition that Devon was having. Next, he did another double-take after attorney Amanda Sinclair (Morgan’s new role) came to town in a storyline that called into question Devon’s legal status as the late Katherine Chancellor’s (Jeanne Cooper) heir. Devon couldn’t believe the uncanny resemblance between Amanda and his late wife. It took a while but viewers eventually learned that Amanda and Hilary were indeed twins.

Y&R explored Amanda’s true origins revealing that Rose was Hilary’s adoptive mother and that her birth mother was Naya Benedict (Ptosha Storey). The story of Amanda finding her mother, her sister Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose), and also discovering that her maternal grandfather Sutton Ames (Jack Landron) was responsible for her birth father Richard’s death won Morgan her historic Daytime Emmy win.

Days after winning her golden girl, Morgan appeared on The Talk to chat about her victory and being the first black actress to win for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. “It’s been incredible,” Morgan said. “It means everything. It means that my hard work has paid off. When I was a kid, my dad always told me that you need to be 10 times better [than everyone else] because you’re black…I hope this step forward shows that we can be equal. We can be our best…and that’s enough.”
