Prime time and movie actor Tom Arnold is adding another daytime soap opera to his credit. He’s joining The Bold and the Beautiful as Captain Deuce Stevens.
Up, Up, and Away
Us Weekly broke the news that Arnold will play a pilot on B&B for two consecutive episodes starting Tuesday, July 30. The story that brings Arnold to B&B as a fly guy is three characters — Ridge, Brooke, and Steffy — flying to Monte Carlo where they’ll relaunch the iconic Brooke’s Bedroom fashion line for Forrester Creations.
Fans recall that the late Stephanie (Susan Flannery) was mortified that the classy House of Forrester was putting out a line of lingerie, but nobody could argue successfully that the line wasn’t a success.
“It was great fun!” Arnold said. “People love The Bold and the Beautiful. The loyalty, the fans, the opinions … I started going online and listening to fans argue about certain things. It’s like sports.
“It’s a well-oiled machine,” Arnold raved about the show’s production. “They’re just so on top of their stuff. I was in makeup and this guy comes in and goes, ‘Hey, can I get you anything?’ I go, ‘I don’t know, do you have Sugar Free Red Bull?’ This guy who I thought was the crew — he had a very hard handshake — was Thorsten [Kaye, Ridge, who plays] the rich, wealthy father.”

This isn’t Arnold’s first soap. In 1994, he played on General Hospital as Billy “Baggs” Boggs in scenes with Anthony Geary (ex-Luke) and Genie Francis (Laura) and Arnold’s then-wife Roseanne Barr, who’d been cast as Jennifer Smith, Luke’s one-time fiancé.
Today, Arnold, a real-life soap fan, has two children with soap opera names — Quinn and Jax — whom he shares with his former wife, Ashley Groussman, a professional home organizer.
Spoiler alert! Steffy is late for her plane and that’s something Arnold, a frequent flier, knows is a no-no. “One thing that is true is you have a window to land at the airport. And if you mess around and you’re late, you will miss that [window]. I like when there’s some reality to this stuff. It heightened the scene because Steffy forgot her passport.”
But that moment isn’t played just for drama. “[It] opens the doors for some hilarious stuff,” Arnold says. “It’s very funny because things are so dramatic that it lends itself to comedy.”
Tom Arnold may be back on the show. He makes no secret of the fact that he’s simply going to call Brad Bell, executive producer/head writer, whom he’s known for years, to campaign for more appearances.
