General Hospital’s Brook Lynn: From Brat to Top-Notch Do-Gooder

GH BROOK LYNN HAS CHANGED
 Comments

Having a baby – even a fake baby – has totally transformed General Hospital’s Brook Lynn Quartermaine. The former brat of Port Charles has somehow segued into a top-notch do-gooder, and it’s been an interesting and inspiring change.

General Hospital: Bratty to the Bone

The Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) of all old was wild and unruly. If she wasn’t spatting with Lulu (Emme Rylan), she was getting arrested for disorderly conduct. She only thought about one thing: herself. When she couldn’t convince Ned (Wally Kurth) to pay off her sleazy producer to release her from her recording contract, she blackmailed Julian (William deVry) into helping her. When that didn’t work, she sold her ELQ stocks to buy way out of the pact – her family company be damned, infuriating Ned and the rest of the Quartermaines.

Twisted Twist

Ironically, a twisted plot to make things right – pretending she was pregnant with Valentin Cassadine’s (James Patrick Stuart) child, so he’d return the stocks in exchange for access to his baby – has been the catalyst to inspire Brook Lynn’s turnaround. And the character has never been better or more intriguing.

General Hospital Character Shift

The underhanded scheme led Brook Lynn to help former nemesis, Maxie (Kirsten Storms), who was really pregnant and desperate to keep her baby away from the diabolical Peter August (Wes Ramsey). Brook Lynn claimed Maxie’s infant as her own and has been pulling off the most convoluted charade ever since. Along the way, she’s been more determined to keep baby Louise/Bailey safe than doing her own bidding, displaying a whole new selfless side.

Friend Indeed

Protecting Louise isn’t Brook Lynn’s only act of good. She’s also emerged as a devoted friend to Chase (Josh Swickard), supporting him as he fights to walk again. She’s also been there for Michael (Chad Duell), who graciously stepped aside to let his true love, Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), marry Chase in his hour of need.

On the home front, Brook Lynn’s finally bonded with Olivia (Lisa LoCicero), realizing she’s the most positive force in her father’s life and the best influence on the entire Quartermaine clan. She’s wisely accepted her stepmother’s advice and guidance and has become a true champion of Ned and Olivia’s marriage.
