Fans of Law & Order: SVU know about Olivia Benson’s (Mariska Hargitay) very complicated relationship with her mother, Serena Benson. Not only did Serena emotionally and physically abuse her daughter, but Benson was a product of rape.
In this emotional flashback video, Benson tells Rollins (Kelli Giddish) about a painful conversation she overheard her mother having while she was a teenager — and it’s a powerful moment for both women.
