The Bachelor and The Bachelorette have been on television for more than a decade, and while the stars of both shows change every single season, there’s always one constant — host Chris Harrison.
Not only has Harrison been a part of every season, but he has also helped countless contestants find love and has talked people through some serious drama. From the sport he played in college to the book he wrote, here are five fast facts you need to know about The Bachelor host, Chris Harrison.
That Witchy Feeling
Prior to becoming the host of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, as well as the host of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and the Miss America Pageant, Harrison tried his hand in acting. He appeared on an episode of Sabrina the Teenage Witch back in 2003.
Meant To Be
Long before he became a major host on television, Harrison got his first hosting job in the ‘80s during a high school talent show. Harrison was a senior in high school at the time and was brought in to add some humor. He apparently did a very good job, and it’s what started his love of hosting.
Having A Ball
Not only is Harrison a great television host, but he’s also a great athlete. He was an avid soccer player growing up and even managed to earn a scholarship to play soccer at Oklahoma City University. He also played in a semi-pro league for a period of time before focusing solely on hosting.
Fictional Tale
Harrison is also a published author. He wrote a book called The Perfect Letter, which is about a young editor named Leigh who lives in New York City. She attends a conference in Texas and just so happens to find stacks of old letters that she wrote containing her secrets. The book is available on Amazon.
Getting Personal
Harrison married his college sweetheart, Gwen Harrison, in 1994 and they have two kids — a son named Josh and a daughter named Taylor. However, they ended their marriage in 2012. Harrison recently revealed he’s dating a new woman, Entertainment Tonight host Lauren Zima.
