Fans have been eagerly anticipating Season 3 of The Handmaid’s Tale, which will be dropping on Hulu fairly shortly. The Season 2 finale left most fans frustrated and relieved all at the same time, so it’ll be interesting to see where the show picks up.
From premiere dates to new characters coming to Gilead, here’s everything you need to know about the third season of The Handmaid’s Tale!
1. Premiere Date
Though the past two seasons of The Handmaid’s Tale premiered in April, Season 3 is starting a bit later. Sorry fans, but the show won’t be premiering until Wednesday, June 5. However, this does mean we’ll get the show for the entire summer!
2. Characters Will Be Back
Fans were introduced to Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) during Season 2 and it sounds like he’ll be back again this season. He helped Emily and June’s daughter, Nichole, escape Gilead, so it’ll be interesting to see what ends up happening to him.
3. New Characters Will Arrive
A new Commander and wife are coming into town! Christopher Meloni and Elizabeth Reaser are joining the cast as the Winslows. They are reportedly going to be close to the Waterford family.
4. Somebody’s Still Alive
Aunt Lydia was stabbed and pushed down a staircase by Emily (Alexis Bledel) at the end of Season 2 and was presumed to be dead, but no, she’s still alive! She’s definitely going to be returning to torment her Handmaids.
5. No Longer A Handmaid?
In the Season 3 trailer that was released a few months ago, fans spotted June (Elizabeth Moss) wearing the traditional “Martha” outfit, not the traditional red gown she’s been wearing for a few years. Does this mean her character finally escapes from the Waterfords? Time will tell!
