Daytime Emmy nominee Trent Dawson, who played Henry on As the World Turns, recently joined Soap Hub editors to preview the upcoming reunion of As the World Turns stars. The get-together is set to take place on Wednesday, October 28 at 8 p.m. ET.

Catching Up With Trent Dawson

Dawson chatted with Soap Hub about the secrets behind getting the cast together for the virtual gathering. The Oakdale gang will re-read the show’s final script, which aired on September 17, 2010. This special event serves as a benefit for Dawson’s theater company, Katonah Classic Stage. To purchase tickets and receive information, click here.

The actor shared with Soap Hub his early days on ATWT and how the role of Henry was initially meant to be short term. He suggested with a smile that some of the actresses becoming pregnant during his tenure led to him being kept around. Whenever the scribes needed to have a character fly a plane or do something special, the task was given to Henry. As the character was relatively new, people didn’t know his full background, so assigning Henry a special skill didn’t need a lot of explaining.

Dawson was joined by two special guests during the chat — his children Emma and Jack — who popped on to say hello. The actor recalled how he struck up a friendship with co-star and scene partner Terri Conn Peck (Katie), who welcomed him to the show and made a special point of sitting down with the actor at the studio to watch his first appearance on ATWT as he was working on the day it aired.

When Dawson first joined ATWT, the show was still taping in New York City on West 57th Street. Later, he felt that the cast became more tight-knit after the production moved to Brooklyn, taking over the space that once belonged to Procter & Gamble sudser Another World, which left the airwaves in 1999.

In his fireside chat, Dawson talked about many more topics including his time on General Hospital, playing the part of Huxley, which reunited him with former ATWT pal Maura West (Ava; ex-Carly, ATWT) in 2016. Huxley came back on the scene in 2017 helping to reintegrate Steve Burton’s Jason onto the canvas. Dawson recalls Burton’s kindness to him during his trip to the show’s storytelling canvas.

In addition to Larry Bryggman (John), Don Hastings (Bob), and Kathryn Hays (Kim), Dawson says there will be many surprise guests from ATWT showing up to take part in Wednesday night’s reading of the finale.
