The Young and the Restless C&G News

Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well-remembered stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join Days of our Lives fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.

The week of December 23, 2019

Zach Tinker returns home to Genoa City as Fenmore Baldwin, Michael (Christian LeBlanc) and Lauren’s (Tracey Bregman) son, on Wednesday, December 25. Alyvia Alyn Lind’s return as Faith Newman has been pushed to Monday, December 23.

Meanwhile, Doug Davidson’s episodes as Paul Williams are now slated to air on Tuesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 25. He’ll share scenes with Donny Boaz’s Chance on Christmas Eve and with Lauralee Bell, who plays Christine, Bregman and LeBlanc on Christmas Day.

Another former One Life to Live star has landed a new soap gig. Chase Coleman, remembered as Garrett, is heading to YR for a short-term role as Tanner Watts. The character is a popular recording artist. He’ll begin airing in January. Please note that due to continuing impeachment coverage, air dates may be subject to change.

The Young and the Restless History

YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB). YR airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
