The Young and the Restless Newcomer Darnell Kirkwood’s Take on Soaps!

Fans of The Young and the Restless are enjoying watching Darnell Kirkwood as sexy photographer Jordan Wilde. On the show, Jordan’s interactions with both Lily and Hilary have made for some interesting, steamy drama.

A Kansas City native, Kirkwood recently sat down to talk to his hometown newspaper The Kansas City Star about the switch to daytime and his exciting new role.

Before appearing on the hot daytime drama, Kirkwood played small roles in TV shows like Bosch, Scorpion, Magic City, and Burn Notice. However, his recurring role in Genoa City is his first major role, and it’s one he considers to be his breakout.

The actor is thrilled that he gets the chance to hone his acting skills on soaps. He shared, “You get a chance to work a lot [on daytime]. As an actor you know if you’re working on a soap opera, shooting an episode a day, there’s a lot of opportunity to be seen throughout the year, whereas if you’re working a prime-time show you’re shooting a couple months out of the year and then you’re off.”

Kirkwood explained what goes into bringing Jordan to life on the show: “He comes from humble beginnings and through that fought his way to where he’s at. I think that influences his photography on that show. He’s the best at what he does. He also has a charm about him and a swagger. There’s a lot of me in Jordan.”

For now, Jordan and Lily’s (Christel Khalil) reconnection with their professional relationship could be heating up into something more. However, Cane (Daniel Goddard) isn’t overly thrilled to see his wife cozying up to somebody she was close to before him. Of course, he has plenty of his own problems right now too.

Meanwhile, despite his connection with Lily, it seems the hunky photographer also has his eyes on GC Buzz maven, Hilary (Mishael Morgan), who will actually be free as soon as her divorce from Devon goes through.
