The Young and the Restless (YR) recap for Friday, May 18 centers on The New Hope Key Donor Dinner, as Phyllis and Nikki squabble, Sharon and Nick come to an understanding, and Hilary and Devon take a step forwards.
Meanwhile, Jack reaches out for help even as his family worries it’s too late to save him.
Last Son Standing
Billy (Jason Thompson) settles into his new role as CEO of Jabot as Phyllis notes that, after all his years of being in Jack’s shadow, Billy is the only Abbott son left. Billy worries that Jack (Peter Bergman) won’t let any of them help him, and that it might lead him to taking pills again.
At the cabin, that’s exactly what Jack is contemplating, but manages to reach out to Neil (Kristoff St. John) before he succumbs.
Jack rails about how the only thing he used to be able to count on was being John Abbott’s son, and now he has nothing. Neil swears he won’t let Jack fall off the wagon.
Hope-Full
Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) plays hostess at the New Hope dinner, even as she finds time to chide Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) for not doing a good enough job ditching JT’s (Thad Luckinbill) cell-phone.
She also pushes Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon Case) towards potential new love interests. Nick makes polite conversation, but when Sharon’s dinner companion puts his arm around her, Nick storms out.
Back home, he and Sharon decide that this friends-with-benefits thing isn’t working for either of them. They decide to get back together for real.
Couples Therapy
Hilary (Mishael Morgan) tells Devon (Bryton James) she knows about the nursery he’s building for their child. They make plans for the future, and exit the dinner, arm in arm. Can no one in Genoa City pull off the no-strings relationship?
