The Young and the Restless (YR) recap for Wednesday, January 10 features a  bombshell dropped into the middle of Jack, Ashley, and Traci fighting Graham for custody of Dina.

Past
Graham’s (Max Shippee) lawyer ripped into Jack’s (Peter Bergman) relationship with his mother, pointing out that they didn’t have one for many decades and questioning his newfound interest in being there for her.

The lawyer also points out that Jack’s version of being there for her includes letting Dina burn down a bar, stab Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), and kidnap Christian.

Dina burst out and begged the lawyer to stop cross-examining ‘John’ and just grant their divorce. Dina has been a terrible wife, and it’s all her fault. Next she remembered what a terrible mother she’s been, too.

Seeing Dina so upset, Jack told Michael (Christian J. LeBlanc) he wanted to drop his case.

Present
Graham’s lawyer used the fact that Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and Traci (Beth Maitland) aren’t even in court to drive home how alienated the Abbott children are from their mother.

But the two women had Devon’s (Bryton James) permission to go through Mergeron files – which just happened to contain Dina’s memoirs, where she wrote about meeting Graham, starting to distrust Graham, getting an Alzheimer’s diagnosis, and trusting Graham again.

Michael read the memoirs into the record, and the Abbott siblings were convinced they’ve won.

Future
Not so fast there, Abbotts. Didn’t John ever teach you not to count your chickens before they’re hatched? Graham took the stand again. He took so long getting to his point, the judge chastises both Graham and his lawyer.

But then Graham dropped a bombshell: He and Dina are married!

So uhm, why didn’t he say that in the first place? Did he really just enjoy paying needless legal fees?
