Greg Rikaart is back on daytime as Kevin on The Young and the Restless (YR), but his husband is headed to primetime!
It has been reported that ABC has put into development a series by creators of The Real O’Neals and writer Robert Suddath, who’s married to Rikaart.
Write What You Know
Per Deadline, the untitled series, written by Suddath, “follows a man, who along with his husband and son, moves back in with his Mexican-American family in the heart of Texas, where he struggles with his family’s deep-rooted traditions.”
Suddath is an actor-turned-writer whose writing credits include Telenovela, The New Normal, and The Crazy Ones.
How Could This Affect Rikaart?
Rikaart‘s return to Y&R is likely recurring and open-ended, so it’s possible that if there’s a role for the actor in Suddath’s series (say, as maybe the husband?) then he could very well be cast in that.
The two have worked together before, appearing on stage at the Stella Adler Theater in Hollywood in 2013 in Snapshots, a series of one-act plays that benefited breast cancer research.
In their play, Rikaart and Sudduth played two gay men who marched for the right for gay marriage to occur — but, ironically, had no interest in getting married themselves!
