What Is Cane Thinking on The Young and the Restless (YR)?

On The Young and the Restless (YR), Cane is angry about Victoria buying the majority share of Brash & Sassy. That’s reasonable.

Cane is also angry about Billy continuing to play a role in the company, even after he and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) split up. That’s petty. But understandable.

Cane’s response is to bribe a video editor to make it look like recovering gambler Billy (Jason Thompson) bet on a hockey game his spokesmodels were playing in. That’s stupid.

How is it stupid? Let us count the ways!

Nothing Is Forever
Maybe Cane (Daniel Goddard) doesn’t know it, but his editor certainly does: Nothing stored on a computer is ever gone forever. You can send it to Trash. You can delete it from Trash. You can overwrite it. But it’s still somewhere there on the hard-drive, lurking.

And even if you take a sledge-hammer to the thing, odds are the NSA (or Chinese hackers) have a copy. So, Cane, that footage which exonerates Billy that you think is gone? It’s not gone.

Back For More
And if that footage isn’t really gone (not to mention that any blackmailer worth his salt would have made a backup copy — or several), then what’s to stop the editor from coming back for another payout? And another? And another?

What’s Cane’s longterm plan, here? To just keep paying? Or is he going to kill the guy? Because those are pretty much his only two choices.

Beware a Woman Scorned
Cane slept with Juliet (Laur Allen) in Japan. She said it didn’t mean anything, and he shouldn’t worry about it — she has no intention of telling Lily (Christel Khalil).

And so far, Juliet hasn’t said a word, despite all of Cane’s stressing out and constant need to talk about it. Loudly. With other people around.

But now Cane has messed with Juliet’s career. And while she doesn’t give a damn about the personal, the professional is a different story. Cane has hurt Juliet in a way that matters. Does he really think she’s going to take it lying down?
