Should Victor Retire from Newman Enterprises?

Victor has expressed a desire to spend more time with Nikki on The Young and the Restless — and less time running the family business.

After years of ruling Newman Enterprises, Victor suddenly seems inclined to pass the reins onto one of his children. With Adam gone, Nick (Joshua Morrow) disinterested, and Victoria (Amelia Heinle) working at Brash & Sassy, it leaves youngest daughter Abby as his sole option.

Lucky for him, she’s expressed a real interest in the company, going so far as to call it her “passion.” It seems hard for fans of The Young and the Restless to imagine anyone ever filling Victor’s business shoes. Nevertheless, Soap Hub asked if you think it’s time Victor retire.

Yes, It’s Time
Of the 5,000 responses, 59% of fans said it’s time for Victor to step down from Newman Enterprises. You feel he’s at an age where he should be enjoying life with Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), instead of focusing on corporate mergers and takeovers. Having Abby wanting to take on more responsibility is serendipitous. Victor won’t have to look far for his successor. He’ll just have to start grooming her for the position, pronto!

No, He Is Newman Enterprises
Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) retire? Say what!?!? Some 23% of you find the idea totally ludicrous. Victor is Newman Enterprises. The man lives and breathes business, 24/7. He may talk about retiring, but the bottom line is he’ll never actually do it. Victor’s too much of a control freak to leave his company in anyone else’s hands.

Only If He Works Behind the Scenes
The final 18% of you are fine with Victor retiring from working a standard 9-to-5 shift, but only if he remains a powerful force behind the scenes. You’d like to see him set up a home office, complete with that great big portrait of himself on the wall. You believe he should keep an eye on the company. His expertise is invaluable and Abby (Melissa Ordway) or whoever succeeds him needs to know he’s always there for advice.
