As Summer on The Young and the Restless, Hunter King is possibly pregnant, and on the Emmy-winner’s nighttime series, Life in Pieces, she plays Clementine, Tyler’s bride.
Double Duty
The actress’s biggest challenge, however, in real-life is how she’s going to juggle both gigs!
“I’m just rolling with it and seeing how it works,” King told Soap Hub following a Pieces press conference on the 20th Century Fox lot where the sitcom films. “I’m a series regular here and recurring at Y&R. We’ll see how the scheduling works out. As long as they’ll have me, I’ll work on both shows. I love being busy!”
King, who recurred on Pieces last season, already has experience in doing both series. “It only happened twice where I went from Y&R to Pieces [on the same day],” she recalls.
Making It Work
There are a few factors working in King’s favor that will allow her to continue to play Summer and explore Clementine’s new life. Not only are both ensemble shows on the same network (CBS), but the two studios where they shoot are not that far from each other. Also, Y&R tends to tape at a quick pace, so the actress’s time commitment may not be as great as when soaps had longer work days.
“I was there this morning, and I had three scenes,” Nick and Phyllis’s daughter shares. “I was out by 10:30 [a.m.]. It’s so fast.”
Fan Girl
Viewers will learn about Clementine this season on Pieces with the arrival of her parents, played by real-life married couple Megan Mullally (Will & Grace) and Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation).
[relbar link=”http://soaphub.wpengine.com/young-restless/young-restless-looking-new-adam/” text=”Is Y&R Looking for a New Adam?”]”It’s the coolest thing ever,” King says of Clementine’s mother and father (who are actually brother and sister — not a married couple!) “I call Nick’s character ‘Uncle Dad,'” says King, a self-proclaimed fan of Offerman’s work on Parks. “I’m going to be a fan girl the entire time on set!”
The actress adds she’s received nothing but support from her Y&R pals about her nighttime gig. “Everyone is excited and happy for me,” she says with a smile. “They’re all my best friends. I have two great groups [I’m working with]. I’m lucky and blessed. [Having two shows] does not come along often to anybody!”
While Summer may be pregnant and Clementine is married, King jokes, “I’m still waiting on a boyfriend! Where’s my guy?”
