Beth Maitland Set to Revisit The Young and the Restless

Genoa City will happily welcome back to the fold the warm and fuzzy Abbott sibling, Beth Maitland’s Traci, on The Young and the Restless.

Everything seems better when Traci is in the Abbott house and, according to TVInsider.com, fans can looking forward to that happening on November 17.

Can’t We All Just Get Along?
Ever since John Abbott (Jerry Douglas) passed away, the role of peacemaker in the family has fallen on Traci’s shoulders. She’s the one who can bring solace to a situation that seems impossible – and that’s just what she’s facing. Ever since Billy slept with Jack’s wife, the Abbott family has been splintered.

“Traci has her bucket, her mop and her disinfectant and she’s ready to clean up the mess created by her rich, entitled, ridiculously emotional siblings who overreact to everything,” Maitland said with a laugh to TV Insider.

All In The Family
Could this be just the beginning of more Traci in Genoa City? According to TV Insider, Maitland’s character is featured prominently in the episode airing on December 7 – the first script from new head writer Sally Sussman.

If the new team plans to concentrate more on Y&R of old, during Sussman’s earlier stints on the show, this could be welcome news for fans of all the Abbott siblings. We know Jack (Peter Bergman) would be all for it – having Traci around makes him listen more to his better angels. Considering the revenge streak he’s been acting on lately, he could use some truth-telling as only his sisters seem to be able to deliver.

We Are Family
Ashley (Eileen Davidson) has been harboring the burden of trying to keep her feuding brothers in line and could certainly use an extra set of hands to keep the peace in the family.

With the holidays coming up, it seems like the perfect time to have Traci around. Perhaps things have a chance of improving in the Abbott household if Traci is around to talk sense into everyone. In the article, Maitland seems to understand perfectly what purpose her character serves and how much she is needed.

“The term ‘moral compass’ is overused completely, but a show needs that grandma or that aunt who represents goodness and hope and heart.”

She’s absolutely right about that.
