Ptosha Storey paid tribute to the late Cecily Tyson after the Oscar winner passed away earlier this year. The Young and the Restless star had met the late Tyson more than once in her career.
“I was raised in Dallas,” Storey tells Soap Hub. “My first TV movie was called The Road to Galveston.” In that film, Storey played the role of “Motel Room Clerk.” The film starred Tyson as Jodan Roosevelt. Not only was the movie Storey’s first credit, but she says her first scenes were with Tyson herself!
“She was an icon to me,” Storey explains. “She did such wonderful work.” Fast forward to years later when the two actresses were reunited at the opening of Tyler Perry’s (The Haves and the Have Nots) studio complex in Atlanta.
“Cicely was there and we talked. She remembered me!” Storey happily shares. “A friend of mine captured that moment. I didn’t even know it was being photographed. It was wonderful seeing her again and talk about having worked together. I will cherish that moment. Always.”
There’s another actor with whom Storey hopes to share the screen — her son Jordan L. Jones, a graduate of USC. “My being his mom is the best role I’ve ever played,” a proud Storey says. “I’m very proud of him. I never steered him into acting. After he graduated, he says, ‘Ma, here’s your degree. I want to try acting.’”
So far, Jones has landed roles on CBS dramas All Rise and NCIS: Los Angeles. While mother and son haven’t worked together, Storey says with a smile, “We talk about it. It’s going to happen. I just feel it, but it hasn’t happened yet!” The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
