On the April 2 episode of The Young and the Restless, Victoria lamented that Summer isn’t feeling up to coming home to confront her mom about stealing her grandfather’s company. But she did write Phyllis a very strongly worded letter. That’s not good enough for Victoria. And it’s not good enough for us. Here is why Summer should be on her way back to Genoa City sooner rather than later.

Key Takeaways

  • Kyle and Claire are broken up.
  • Harrison misses his most recent mommy.
  • Victor and Phyllis are equally awful.

Kyle and Claire’s Split Changes Everything for Summer

Summer (Allison Lanier) left Genoa City in part because the sight of sickly sweet Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Claire (Hayley Erin) made her vaguely sick. We don’t blame her. We sometimes felt the same way.

But Kyle and Claire are no longer together. And Kyle is famous for not being able to live alone for long. If Summer has any interest in reuniting with her ex-husband, the timing couldn’t be better.

Harrison Is the Real Reason Summer Needs to Come Home

Harrison (Redding Munsell) has already lost the people he called Mommy and Father. Then he got a new Daddy. Then he got a new mommy. Then New Mommy left, and Harrison made do with Nanny/Daddy’s girlfriend.

But then Claire took off, too. As far as we can tell, Harrison now lives in the kitchen with Mrs. Martinez. (Goodness knows, Grandpa Jack [Peter Bergman] and Grandma Didi [Susan Walters] have more on their minds these days than baking cookies.) He could really use one of his many parents.

Phyllis and Victor Go Unchecked Without Summer in the Room

If Summer comes back to town, she can tell Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) that she’s awful, and she can tell Victor (Eric Braeden) that he’s awful. That won’t change anything for either of them, but it would be nice to see both read for filth by somebody new.

And maybe Summer could even point out that they’re exactly the same. Which isn’t a compliment.
