Christel Khalil has been appearing on The Young and the Restless despite Lily’s incarceration. But how much will be seeing her, and why did she really switch to recurring status? The actress is speaking out!
Soap Opera Digest spoke to Khalil on its podcast and the Emmy-winning actress explained her reasons for becoming a non-contract player on the top-rated soap!
“I’m dating someone in Toronto and I’m wanting to kind of expand career-wise and kind of be able to do other things,” Khalil said. “I want to have more time with my son. A lot of things have been changing in my life over the years.”
The actress says that, ideally, this will be the best case scenario for everyone!
“I just figured recurring was kind of a best-case scenario where I get to kind of own my life again and have some more freedom to kind of live my life personally and professionally and then also be able to still kind of pop in [to the show] and say hi every once in a while.”
Time will tell how often Khalil appears on the show. Y&R has a jail set and visiting room that we’ve already seen so the stage is set for her to pop up as scheduling allows.
Might Lily get sprung from jail in time for the holidays? Stay tuned to find out!
