They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is a snapshot of a future star of soaps, but can you guess who this fur baby-loving little dude grew up to be?
Star Of The Soaps
Obviously, this young man (now all grown up) is either currently starring in, or is an alum of, one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that’s probably not enough of a hint.
So try these on for size. He possesses a degree in Marine Biology from Occidental College. He appeared in two feature films prior to his joining a daytime drama. He is a Daytime Emmy Award winner. He appeared in an episode of Diagnosis: Murder. And he is well known for hosting and appearing in a plethora of appreciation, competition, and panel shows.
But just who can he be? Is this a photograph of Jeff Tracta (ex-Thorne Forrester, BB), Stephen Nichols (Steve “Patch” Johnson, DAYS), Kin Shriner (Scotty Baldwin, GH), or Doug Davidson (Paul Williams, YR)?
Jeff Tracta
Though Tracta has appeared in a number of primetime series – including V.I.P., Strip Mall – he didn’t guest star on the Dick Van Dyke vehicle Diagnosis: Murder. And despite having hosted The Miss World Pageant (1995), Tracta is not today’s featured star.
Stephen Nichols
He guest-starred on Diagnosis: Murder, and he appeared as a panelist on The New Hollywood Squares. However, Nichols had three feature films (A Different Story, Choices & House) under his belt before joining the cast of DAYS, so he isn’t the answer to today’s identity query.
Kin Shriner
And neither is Shriner. This in spite of the fact that he appeared on a number of game shows – including Family Feud and Match Game – and hosted the 88th Annual Hollywood Christmas Parade.
Doug Davidson
Prior to his being hired to portray playboy turned P.I. turned Police Chief Paul Williams on YR, Davidson had already completed a degree in Marine Biology and appeared in two films – the feature Fraternity Row and the made-for-TV flick The Initiation of Sarah.
Aside from his acting, which has extended into primetime programs, Davidson is also well known for his multiple appearances on game shows such as Family Feud, his hosting of the annual Tournament of Roses Parade (which he did from 1998 through 2003), and his stint as host of a nighttime syndicated version of The Price Is Right.
So, if you guessed that the future star of soaps seen in the image above was Doug Davidson – who won the 2013 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor – then you were absolutely correct!
