What’s the Real Truth About Tessa on The Young and the Restless?

The Young and the Restless (YR) fans understand where Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) is coming from.

After all, her professional resume pretty much only had ‘stripper’ on it (though there was also that accidental stint as a call girl, which lead to the third dead body in Nikki’s then still young life) when Victor (Eric Braeden) took Nikki into his home so he could play ‘My Fair Lady’ with his friend, Douglas.

So, naturally, Nikki saw nothing wrong with inviting Tessa (Cait Fairbanks), a young woman she caught playing guitar for tips outside Sharon’s (Sharon Case) coffee-house, to the Newman ranch to give Nikki’s grandson Reed (Tristan Lake Lebau) music lessons.

Victor was less enamored of the free-spirited troubadour. Strippers = good. Street performers = suspicious. Is Victor on to something? Is there more to Tessa than meets the eye? Over 9000 voters shared their intuition.

Digging Deep
It’s a landslide! Over 97% of you are sure Tessa is hiding something, or maybe you’re just hoping she is. Right now, she’s just cheery and intuitive and boring as heck.

In real life, people who are always pleasant may be frustrating, but they’re usually harmless. On a soap, they’re a big snooze.

Twenty-something Tessa had better soon be seducing teen-age Reed and announcing she’s pregnant with the next Newman heir, or she can try to enchant Victor (he likes younger women, remember Sabrina, the much too young wife who still couldn’t manage to outlive the immortal mustache?).

Tessa can be a mob princess looking for Dylan (Steve Burton), or yet another illegitimate child. Anything is better than nothing!

The Power of Niceness
But no poll is ever unanimous, and a tiny 2% of the audience is enjoying watching a character who’s there to teach music… and nothing else. Everyone needs to make a living, why hate on Tessa for just trying to earn hers?
