The year 2017 will be remembered by fans of The Young and the Restless (YR) as one in which fan favorite characters returned and a long-held secret was exposed. The lives of the Abbotts, Newmans, and their friends and foes will never be the same!

Soap Hub asked which storyline was your favorite in 2017. Read on for the answers.

She Bangs, She Bangs
Coming in first with almost 33% of your vote is Dina’s Alzheimer’s storyline. The tale has been filled with many sad moments including her children (Jack, Ashley, and Traci) having to face the fact of their mother’s mortality.

There have been moments of humor, too, such as when Dina’s fired off zingers to Nikki and Hilary. The tale will continue into next year as Dina (Marla Adams) may be with us for some time to come!

Cane’s Conflict
Your second place choice with nearly 30% of votes is Cane and Lily being torn apart by Juliet.

This is a bit of a surprise since viewers hate to see Cane and Lily in conflict and many believe that Cane and Juliet didn’t even sleep together since we never actually saw it. There are probably still some twists to come in this story (in light of Lily’s blood being a match for baby Sam’s).

Daddy Dearest
Ashley’s paternity was perhaps daytime’s longest secret known to only a handful of Genoa City residents. Dina blurted the news out that Brent Davis was her daughter’s true dad at a banquet honoring Ash.

While the impact would have been far greater had John Abbott lived long enough to learn this shocking news, the story earned almost 20% of your vote.

And The Rest
Mariah and Tessa’s story earned a little over 6%  of your vote. Perhaps viewers still aren’t ready for a same sex love story in Genoa City — or maybe just not one with these particular characters?

Still, we expect Camryn Grimes (Mariah) will earn an Emmy nomination. The remaining voters 11% went with other miscellaneous storylines that aired throughout the year.

Perhaps the machinations of Victor and Nikki will take center stage for 2018, but even with all those stories going on, those two GC mainstays were at the core of it all in 2017.

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
