The internet has made it easier than ever for soap opera fans to make their feelings known about particular characters and storylines.

This week, almost 4,000 The Young and the Restless fans took to their keyboards to vote on the pressing issue of: What Storylines Do You Want To See in 2017? What did they say, and do you agree with their tallies? Find out below!

Nothing Short of Dying

The people have spoken and over half, 54%, are putting their foot down: No more favorite characters dying!

Granted, a soap death is rarely final, and no soap character worth their salt can truly call themselves a veteran until they’ve endured at least one funeral, but it’s all the crying and teeth-gnashing (and, oops, accidentally sleeping with the wrong person due to grief) that fans have had enough of.

It’s hard enough to watch misery every day on your screen. Even harder when you know it’s only temporary.

Three Way Love Affair

Slightly less than half of you, 40%, are begging your show to give love triangles a rest.

Honestly, nobody comes off well in them, not the person in the middle, perennially waffling between two choices, not the two sides, who allow themselves to be treated in such a manner for far longer than anyone with any self-respect should.

How about we just focus on love stories where everybody knows who they want, and the obstacles come from within or, at least, without, and not from pathetic indecision?

Count Me In!
For 6%, the above generalities weren’t enough. You had specific feedback, such as: “Adam (Justin Hartley) back,” “Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon Case) back together,” and no more “stolen babies.”

Hmmm, all three of those are connected, aren’t they….? Guess we know what fans really want to see in 2017!
