Victoria Rowell Marks 26th Anniversary of Dumb and Dumber’s Release

Most fans of The Young and the Restless know that Victoria Rowell can bring the drama. After all, she did so as Drucilla Barber Winters starting in 1990 off and on until the character fell over that cliff in April of 2007. But not all viewers realize that the actress appeared in one of the most iconic comedy films too — Dumb and Dumber!

The Daytime Emmy-nominated star recently took to her Twitter account to mark an amazing milestone involved with the film. You see, it came out on December 16, 1994 — and she commented on another Twitter account, Film News Nostalgia, as they marked the anniversary of the film’s release.

“#JimCarey is one of the kindest stars I’ve ever worked with. #Farrelly brothers let’s link up and do that thing-thing we talked about! #DumbandDumber anniversary!”

The Farrelly brothers, Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly, both wrote and directed the Jim Carrey/Jeff Daniels vehicle that has spawned an imitation and a sequel, as well as many other films. As for Dumb and Dumber, it also starred a couple of other soap alums including Lauren Holly (ex-Julie, All My Children) as Mary Swanson and Brad Lockerman (ex-Zed, Capitol; ex-Casey the Alien, General Hospital) as her kidnapped husband.

But Rowell had a pivotal role in the film as well. She encounters Daniels’ character, Harry Dunne, at the gas station and later Carrey’s Lloyd Christmas while he’s at the bar, sadly waiting for Mary who would never come. We won’t spoil in case you’re one of the few who hasn’t seen this film classic, but there’s a hilarious reveal regarding Rowell’s character, Beth Jordan, that is sure to please.

Fans would be even more pleased if Rowell’s Drucilla turned up very much alive in Genoa City. Many were rooting for her to be revealed as the mother to twins Hilary and Amanda (Mishael Morgan). Supposedly the mom’s identity will be revealed next week. Will it be a red herring? Could it still be Drucilla? Stay tuned. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS.
