Victoria Rowell is best known for playing the legendary role of Drucilla Winters on The Young and the Restless, but she’s been on other shows like The Cosby Show, Ghost Whisperer, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Along with being an actress, Rowell started her career as a very accomplished ballet dancer. From where she was born and raised to starting her own foundation, here are five fast facts about the former YR actress.
Rowell was born on May 10 in Portland, Maine. She grew up with foster parents, as her biological mother suffered from schizophrenia and was unable to take care of Rowell and her siblings. Growing up with her foster parents, Rowell began taking ballet lessons and became a professional dancer by the age of 17.
Started Her Own Foundation
Because of Rowell’s upbringing with her foster parents, she founded the Rowell Foster Children’s Fine Arts Scholarship Fund, which provides ballet classes to children in the foster care system.

Victoria Rowell became a fan of The Dick Van Dyke Show when she was only 2 years old. This not only got her interested in performing, but it made her a lifelong fan of the legendary actor.
It was a dream come true when she auditioned and won the role of Van Dyke’s medical partner on Diagnosis Murder — a show that ran for several seasons on CBS (the first few years she did double duty with The Young and the Restless). The pair are still close friends today.
Along with her work on television, Rowell has also co-starred in films such as The Distinguished Gentleman, which stars Eddie Murphy, Dumb and Dumber with Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels, and Lauren Holly (ex-Julie, All My Children), Full Eclipse, Barb Wire, and Home of the Brave, which starred Samuel L. Jackson.
Getting Personal With Victoria Rowell
Rowell first married Tom Fahey in 1989 and they had one daughter together named Maya. However, they divorced the following year. She then started dating musician Wynton Marsalis and they have a son together named Jasper, but their relationship ended in 1997.
She got engaged to Radcliffe Bailey in 2008 and they tied the knot in June 2009. They parted ways in January 2014. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
