When The Rich and the Ruthless returns for Season 4, former The Young and the Restless star Victoria Rowell will have a familiar face starring opposite her on the set.
On her Instagram account, the actress revealed that Bryton James, who played her on-screen son Devon Hamilton back when Drucilla was alive on The Young and the Restless, will be guesting on her show’s new season.
“The wait for #TheRichandtheRuthless Season4 is over,” Rowell wrote, and encouraged people with hashtags to binge-watch the show on BET+ starting on May 13, when the show drops its full six-episode season.
She added a photo of James and announced the fun news that the two would be onscreen together for the first time since Drucilla met her maker going over the cliff back in 2007 during an altercation with Phyllis (Michelle Stafford).
“We welcome talented EMMY Award Winning actor @brytonejames @youngandrestlesscbs to our cast!” Rowell shared. “It was a dream to direct my TV son!”
Produced and created by Rowell, The Rich and the Ruthless follows the story of a self-made businessman who fights back when the studio cancels his soap opera after a 20-year run and moves production to his own mansion. On the show, Rowell plays Kitty Barringer opposite Richard Brooks’ Augustus.
The web series is loosely based on Rowell’s books, Secrets of a Soap Opera Diva and The Young and the Ruthless, and obviously, the actress has plenty of experience from her YR days to draw upon.
A two-time Daytime Emmy winner, James first appeared on YR back in 2004 and remains on the show to this day. Although Rowell hasn’t come back since her exit, she did appear on the show’s tribute to Kristoff St. John (ex-Neil) when he passed away in 2019.
Since Drucilla’s body was never found, long-time fans are still holding out hope that the actress returns one day. And Devon could certainly use some of his mother’s guidance right about now considering he recently slept with Elena (Brytni Sarpy) and is trying to work things out with Amanda (Mishael Morgan).
But for now, seeing Rowell and James together on The Rich and the Ruthless will be a fun treat. Here’s to hoping their characters interact and have some meaty scenes to play. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
