Former “Young and the Restless” actress Victoria Rowell will finally get the trial date she’s been fighting for, but it’s still a ways away.
The battle between Rowell and CBS, Sony, Bell, and Corday will start on April 17, 2017, and it looks like neither parties will be backing down. Dirty laundry will be aired as the controversial soap case hits the courtroom.
Rowell filed suit last year after being rejected from returning to her Y&R fan favorite role as Drucilla Winters. For 17 years Rowell lit up the screen in her role as Dru. The talented actress became a fan fave in the daytime world, and was nominated for three Daytime Emmys and won 11 Image Awards.
When talks to reenter her role stopped, Rowell turned to her lawyers. The lawsuit claims the powers that be blocked her from coming back on set, and the CBS soap opera industry is plagued with racism and discrimination.
Now, instead of simply wanting to get back to being Dru, she’s looking to change the hiring practices she claims ignore people of color.
Back in February, a judge dismissed her case claiming she didn’t have enough evidence, but she didn’t give up. Recently, Rowell filed again, and this time, she was granted the go-ahead for the case to move forward.
Rowell left Y&R in 2007 to pursue other work. In her nearly 10-year absence from the soap word she’s starred in numerous television shows and movies including “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit,” “November Rule,” “Lets Stay Together,” and “Ghost Whisperer.”
