It’s going from fantasy to reality on The Young and the Restless as, instead of Murder, She Wrote, it was Romance, She Typed.
Novelist Traci (Beth Maitland) spun a 1940s noir tale about a smooth operator, his two-timing wife, and his loyal secretary – and based them on Cane (Daniel Goddard), Lily (Christel Khalil), and herself.
As Traci wrote, she fell in love with “Flynn” on the page… and with Cane in real life. He kissed her to celebrate Traci finishing her first draft and offered to throw her a party to celebrate. But could this supportive friendship ever go any further? What almost 12,000 viewers think:
You Got To Have Friends
Please don’t, 60% of you are begging The Powers That Be. Traci’s daughter, Colleen, was a classmate of Lily’s. Traci hooking up with Lily’s husband is just…icky. Not to mention that Cane is still in love with his wife. That’s just a recipe for heartache. And Traci has had plenty of that.
Finally, Traci fell in love with the Cane she dreamed up in her head — not the real flesh and blood man. The one who cheated on Lily. The one that’s a con artist. The one who is very, very colorful, not black and white. She can do better.
Give It a Shot
A smaller 40% of the audience is all in, though. You’re intrigued by the unique, older woman-younger man pairing, and you love the idea of fantasies coming true, especially for someone who’s been disappointed in love as much as Traci.
Plus, Traci is a very different kind of woman for Cane. He’s more used to women who scheme and plot as easily as they breathe. There was Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) and Juliet (Laur Allen), even Lily had her conniving side. Traci is goodness in human form.
