Throwback Thursday: Seven Years Ago Today on Y&R

Back From The Dead
At the Chancellor mansion, Jill (Jess Walton) laid into Cane (Daniel Goddard) for pretending to be her son, Phillip. Katherine (Jeanne Cooper) was also incensed, feeling completely betrayed. She demanded Cane explain how he could deceive them. Before he could answer, Phillip Chancellor III (Thom Bierdz) appeared and explained he was the one who made him do it.

Katherine fainted. Neil (Kristoff St. John) called an ambulance. Jill stared at Phillip, noting he looked a lot like her son would look if he hadn’t died. Nina (Tricia Cast) stepped up to inform her former nemesis that the stranger was indeed Phillip.

Disappearing Act
During the hubbub as the ambulance arrived, Phillip managed to take off, leaving Cane to explain. He shared with Neil, Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) and Lily (Christel Khalil) that Phillip had given him vials of frozen blood to prove to the family he was him. Cane added that his real name was Ethan Ashby, and the part about his rough childhood was true. He never thought he’d find love until Lily.

Fallout
Lily doubted everything he ever said to her. Neil warned Cane to stay the hell away from his daughter. Billy (Billy Miller) then punched Cane. Chloe asked about Delia’s paternity – why didn’t he just use Phillip’s blood? Cane explained he had and that he bribed the tech. But, the DNA was a partial match because Phillip is Billy’s half-brother.

At the hospital, doctors said Katherine had a mild stroke. Phillip showed up and explained that the accident he “died” in wasn’t an accident. Jill realized he was trying to commit suicide. Phillip shared that he had been stressed and wasn’t ready to get married or be a father. He paid off the nurse and doctor and escaped. He then promised never to disappear again.
