Three Moves The Young and the Restless Must Make in 2021

It was a year of heartfelt drama in Genoa City – Dina (Marla Adams) passed, Devon (Bryton James) and Elena (Brytni Sarpy) split, and the complicated Summer (Hunter King), Kyle (Michael Mealor), and Lola (Sasha Calle) triangle imploded on The Young and the Restless.

Three Moves For The Young and the Restless

However, a few characters, including a popular supercouple, need a new direction in the year ahead. Here are three moves The Young and the Restless must make in 2021.

1. Adam’s World
While focusing on the complicated and intriguing Adam (Mark Grossman) is always a good thing, it’s time to move forward with the character. Let go of his past and dredging up former sins, like the fact that he accidentally killed a man as a child and, years later, sweet Delia.

Instead of everyone loathing him for his old misdeeds, how about having him commit some diabolical new ones? Adam’s a complex volatile mess, who’s not about to change anytime soon, and would be better served wreaking continual havoc in the present.

2. Supercouple Resurgence
With their marriage rock-solid in 2020, Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) spent the bulk of the year as a diminished presence in Genoa City. Yes, Victor was embroiled in all the Adam drama, and Nikki took on the post of COO at Newman Enterprises, but neither was really the centerpiece or driving force in their own storyline. Having the pair happily together is every fan’s dream, but the soap’s premiere couple needs to be driving a plot that’s totally their own in 2021, not just tagging along for the ride.

3. Victoria the Great
Watching Victoria (Amelia Heinle) emerge as a strong, formidable force, who’s taken her place as daddy Victor’s heir apparent at Newman, has been a delight. Now it’s time the show focus on her personal life, as in finding Victoria a romance worthy of her fierce new attitude. With Billy (Jason Thompson) firmly behind her, perhaps a rival power-hungry businessman could arrive in town and go head-to-head with her.

They could spar, wheel-and-deal and match wits, before ultimately giving in to passion. Heinle deserves a front-burner romance, and so does Victoria because all work and no play is just no fun. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
