The Young and the Restless (YR) is bringing back two original cast members to the show in honor of its 45th anniversary. Plus, a former actress/writer for Y&R is also returning to Genoa City!
EW.com broke the news that original cast members Jaime Lyn Bauer and Janice Lynde are reprising their roles as Lorie and Leslie Brooks. As veteran fans of the show recall, Y&R began with the Brooks and Foster families.
Leslie was a concert pianist and Lorie was a journalist. The two women had rivalries over men including Brad Eliot (Tom Hallick) and Lance Prentiss (John McCook; Dennis Cole).
At one point, the rivalry between the two sisters was so intense, Lorie penned a tell-all titled In My Sister’s Shadow.
EW.com also reported that Meg Bennett, who played Julia, Victor’s ex-wife, is coming back to the show for a visit. Bennett debuted on Y&R in 1980 and was on the show for four years but has returned to Genoa City for short stints since then.
She’s also a daytime writer, having been at Y&R, General Hospital, and was part of the original writing team on The Bold and the Beautiful.
Watch for all three to appear the week of March 26, which is the show’s anniversary.
Don’t be surprised if Julia interacts with Victor (Eric Braeden). The last time Bennett appeared as Julia in 2002, Victor helped save her company from a hostile takeover.
The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
