Former The Young and the Restless star Justin Hartley’s (Adam) career is taking off in a big way. From his start on Passions, his time as Adam, to his time on Smallville, Revenge and Mistresses he’s becoming a household name. Now, his newest primetime role is pushing his fame over the top!
The Role of A Lifetime!
Leaving Genoa City was quite the shock to fans, but playing Kevin on This Is Us is a role he couldn’t pass up. “I feel like I’ve worked for it,” Hartley told Glamour of his new role. “I couldn’t be happier.” And we can see why! Kevin is a witty, smart, and loving TV star who’s struggling in Hollywood to become something more than just another shirtless Tinseltown hunk.
Kevin’s personality is also one that has some similarities to Hartley himself. In fact, when he read the script he knew it was a character he was waiting his whole life to play. “He’s a lot like me,” Hartley says. “Like it’s me times 10.” He went on to say that Kevin’s attitude is something he strives for in his own life. His characters’ good hearted nature and self-awareness are quality Hartley wants for himself.
He Misses His TV Dad!
However, no matter how great his new show is, he still understands the impact of his time on Y&R. Adam and Victor’s storylines brought him close to soap legend Eric Braeden, and he’d love to work with the actor again. “He’s got to come on This Is Us,” Hartley jokes. He even has a role lined up for the icon, “He could be [Kevin’s] dad’s dad.”
