The characters of Avery Bailey Clark and Arturo Rosales may no longer be on The Young and the Restless, but viewers can see their respective portrayers, Jessica Collins and Jason Canela, in an upcoming streaming and nighttime series.
Jessica Collins Appears In New Comedy Series
Deadline reports that Collins is set to appear in Acapulco, a bilingual comedy series for Apple TV+. The cast also includes Chord Overstreet (Glee), Vanessa Bauche (Vecinos, Rosario Tijeras), Rafael Cebrián (Animal Kingdom), Fernando Carsa, and Regina Reynoso (You’ve Got This).
Acapulco tells the story of Maximo (played by Enrique Arrizon), a young Mexican man who books his dream job at the hottest resort in Acapulco. However, it turns into a case of “be careful what you wish for” as his beliefs and morals are soon questioned.
Jason Canela Joins Crime Series: The Rookie
Deadline also reports that Canela is set to join the Nathan Fillion (ex-Joey, One Life to Live) series The Rookie. He’ll be playing Cesar Madrigal, the son of a “criminal royalty.” Cesar is described as “impetuous, entitled, and in line to take over his father’s empire.”
The air date for Canela’s first episode of The Rookie hasn’t been announced, but he will appear in the episode titled Brave Heart.
Collins debuted on YR back in 2011 as attorney Avery, who championed for those wrongly convicted. Viewers learned that she was the sister of Phyllis (Michelle Stafford). Avery had romances with both Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Dylan (Steve Burton). Collins won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2016. Since leaving YR, she’s popped up on Grey’s Anatomy, 9-1-1, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Canela joined YR in 2018. His character, Arturo, was a contractor, helping Nick with one of his projects. He met Nick’s mom Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and the two had a fling. He later moved on to a relationship with Abby (Melissa Ordway) but that went bust after it came to light that Arturo had had a fling with his former sister-in-law Mia (Noemí González).
Arturo left town with Mia and she gave birth to their son in Miami. He has returned for family occasions since then. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
