Victoria Rowell will always be remembered as impulsive Drucilla on The Young and the Restless. Today, she’s celebrating a special event in her life!

The actress was born on May 10 so, that means she’s making birthday wishes and celebrating! Born in Portland, Maine, Rowell grew up with foster parents. This prompted her to encourage The Young and the Restless to do a foster care storyline with the character of Devon (Bryton James).

As a young girl, Rowell became interested in ballet and began taking lessons. After appearing in the film Leonard Part 6, she landed the role of Nella Franklin on the CBS soap opera As The World Turns.

In 1990, she was cast as Drucilla. The talented actress earned three Daytime Emmy Award nominations in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series and 11 NAACP Image Awards.

Rowell did double-duty in the 1990s, appearing both as Dru and as Dr. Amanda Bentley on Diagnosis: Murder, which starred Dick Van Dyke. The actress played both her YR persona and Amanda in a Genoa City-themed Diagnosis: Murder episode.

The actress is also a philanthropist, having founded the Rowell Foster Children Positive Plan, lending emotional and financial support to those in need. She turned author by penning The Women Who Raised Me: A Memoir.

Next up for Rowell is the third season of The Rich & the Ruthless on which she plays Kitty Barringer. The series returns on May 23 at on UMC.

In late April, Rowell appeared in a special episode of The Young and the Restless in which she and co-stars of the late Kristoff St. John (Neil) gathered to celebrate the actor’s life. Neil and Dru remain one of YR’s — and daytime’s — most popular couples.

In June, she’ll appear in the TV movie Pride & Prejudice: Atlanta, which airs on Saturday, June 1 at 8 p.m. on Lifetime. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
