The Young And The Restless Star Peter Bergman Celebrates An Amazing Milestone!

Next year, Peter Bergman celebrates 30 years playing Jack Abbott on The Young and the Restless, but today he’s got something to cheer about too!

Bergman, a three-time Daytime Emmy winner for his role as Jack, is making birthday wishes. He was born on June 11, 1953 at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to a United States Naval officer, but the actor eventually moved to the States where Bergman attended Crossland Senior High School in Camp Springs, Maryland.

Bergman made his daytime debut on All My Children in 1979 as Dr. Cliff Warner. Cliff and Nina (Taylor Miller) were star-crossed lovers and the biggest obstacle to their happiness was her domineering dad Palmer (James Mitchell).

Bergman helped make famous the expression “I’m not a doctor, but I play one on TV” when he appeared in a commercial for cough syrup.

After a 10-year run, Cliff was written off AMC, but Bergman wasn’t out of work for long. Future co-star Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) recommended the actor to Y&R brass as Jack’s originator, Terry Lester, had left the soap.

Bergman nailed the audition and the rest, as they say, is history! The actor has enjoyed an uninterrupted run as Genoa City’s smilin’ Jack, who has been involved with Nikki,  Diane Jenkins, Luan Volien, Jill Foster Abbott, Phyllis Summers, and Gloria Bardwell, as well as many others.

Off-screen, Bergman and his wife Mariellen are proud parents of grown children Connor and Clare.

Bergman has a reputation as an industry favorite, someone who can speak with knowledge about not only his fellow actors on Y&R, but also the actors on soaps past and present.

His current storyline has Jack questioning where he belongs in light of finding out that he is not the biological son of the late John Abbott (Jerry Douglas).

While the actor keeps a low profile on social media, everyone at Soap Hub joins the actor’s many fans in wishing the esteemed performer a happy birthday!
