Fans are thrilled that Kristoff St. John is returning to The Young and the Restless soon where he’ll reprise his fan favorite role as Neil Winters, as they feel he’s the only actor for the part! After all, it’s the perfect role for him.
However, this isn’t the first time St. John has landed the perfect role. The two-time Emmy-winner recently reminisced about his time on the epic and legendary TV mini-series, Roots: The Next Generations.
St. John played a young Alex Haley, who authored Roots. “My dad told me at the time what a landmark role that was,” St. John says. “The first ROOTS…had been wildly successful. So I knew I was part of an amazing franchise, and ultimately an amazing journey and story.”
In fact, the fan fave soap performer made a name for himself in childhood in a variety of roles, including one on the comedy series, The Bad News Bears.
But, if any role has a place in American history, it’s that of a young Alex Haley telling the story of generations of his family from the slave trade era to modern times.
