Although Eileen Davidson still returns to The Young and the Restless on a recurring basis as long-time fan-favorite Ashley Abbott, the actress has plenty of time for other exciting projects, and one is coming up that her fans will surely love.
Davidson is set to star opposite Caitlyn Jenner in Duke of the Valley, a new sitcom that follows the lives of residents in a fictional San Fernando Valley apartment building.
The actress took to her Twitter to promote a story on the show that appeared in The Wrap. “Very exciting write-up!” Davidson wrote. “Can’t wait for you guys to see our show!”
According to The Wrap, the show is based on the memoirs of late actor Dick Van Patten, who was best known for portraying Tom Bradford in the ABC dramedy series Eight Is Enough in the late 1970s opposite theater star Betty Buckley.
Duke of the Valley was co-created by Dick’s son Vince Van Patten and grandson, Duke Van Patten, who wrote the series together. Davidson is married to Vince and is thrilled to be working with her husband on the project.
Currently, the first episode has been filmed and shooting is continuing on other episodes, though it doesn’t have a network attached or release date yet.
In the show, we meet Duke Patten (who plays himself), trying to make it as an actor in Hollywood while living in a dingy apartment in the San Fernando Valley that is owned by his “crazy uncle Jimmy” (played by James Van Patten).
The fictional apartment contains the usual assortment of sitcom eccentric tenants. Eileen Davidson plays Brenda, a washed-up actress who can’t accept that her showbiz career is over. There’s also Heather, a transgender “white trash” woman who sells perfume at the counter at Macy’s played by Jenner; Heather’s roommate Fong (played by actress Thai Fong); and a homeless killer named Skipy, who demands to camp outside the apartment building (played by Vince Van Patten). The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
