Fan-favorite and Daytime Emmy winner Camryn Grimes had a little time over the weekend, so The Young and the Restless star started fielding questions on her social media account. You could pop over there to see what she had to say, but Soap Hub has the highlights condensed so you can get the scoop by simply continuing to read this story.
Camryn Grimes Has Answers
Veteran YR fans recall Grimes making her debut on the show back in 1997. Her first scenes weren’t in Genoa City, but rather far away in a town where she’d been adopted by Alice (Tamara Clatterbuck). Alice had taken off, leaving little Cassie to be raised by her mother, Millie (Ernestine Mercer).
Millie made the decision to let Grace (Jennifer Gareis) and Tony (Nick Scotti) take Cassie back to Genoa City, so she could meet her birth mother. Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon) raised Cassie, but she died after being in a horrific car accident. Years later, her twin, Mariah (also played by Grimes) came to Genoa City.
One follower asked Grimes: “Has there been any more difficult Y&R scene/story to film than Cassie’s passing? I watched that episode while y’all were on hiatus and it just destroyed me all over again, especially now that I’m a father myself. Just gut-wrenching. Grimes replied: “Nope, that was the most difficult.”
Asked what it was like shooting a soap opera, Grimes replied: “It’s DEFINITELY different during Covid, but it [days] like the past few that remind me why I love it so much. We just have so much fun, prob too much lol.”
Another follower asked what storyline she’d like to be involved in on YR? Grimes said: “I’d love her to have a job at one of the major companies.” Grimes was also asked what do actors talk about when they’re in the background of scenes? “Honestly,” Grimes replies, “we’re usually trying to make each other laugh.”
Asked if she prefers red or white wine, Grimes responded pragmatically: “I prefer white, I was a ‘ride or die’ red wine lady but I have rosacea so I had to move to white. But I really love it now!” Another fan asked the actress if she preferred cats or dogs. “I have both, I can’t pick,” she said.
Grimes was asked how long a typical workday lasts and if weekend work is ever involved with shooting YR. “We don’t work weekends and usually our days are from 8:30 [a.m.] to 5 or 6 [p.m.],” she responded. With the holidays approaching, Grimes was also asked what her favorite Thanksgiving foods are? “Green beans, stuffing, [and] scalloped potatoes,” she says. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
So if any of y’all are up and have questions, I guess now is as good a time as any lol. Go for it. Make em interesting?
