Devon Hamilton may be spending all his free time fretting over his ex-wife’s ghost making sudden appearances, as well as dealing with his jealousy over girlfriend Elena’s friendship with Nate but actor Bryton James certainly has a reason to celebrate.
That’s because he was born on August 17, 1986, in Lakewood, California, meaning that he is turned 33 years this weekend! The actor — whose birth name was Bryton Eric McClure — is a California native who grew up in Fullerton and entered the acting world at the age of two when he was cast in a commercial.
In 1990, James joined the cast of the ABC sitcom Family Matters in the role of Richie Crawford. He remained apart of the cast until 1997 and he appeared in over 200 of the produced episodes. Subsequent acting roles include guest spots on Smart Guy and The Kids from Room 402.
But it is his role on The Young and the Restless for which James is probably best known. He joined the soap in 2004 as Devon Hamilton, a role that earned James a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor and an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series.
In addition to on-camera work, James is also a successful recording and voice over artist. He performed his first single on Stars 2000, a German television series and he has sung live in multiple venues.
Since 2013 James has lent his voice to two of comic books most well known African American Characters. He gives life to Virgil Hawking/Static on Young Justice and he also provided a voice for Cyborg in seven episodes of DC Super Friends
Soap Hub would like to wish Bryton James a very happy birthday and you can too by clicking on the Twitter link below. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
