The Young and the Restless’ Brytni Sarpy has been very open about her struggles with depression in the past, ignited by the pressures of her work and life.
Brytni Sarpy Opens Up About Her Mental Health
On her Instagram account, the actress admitted that it’s not an easy battle, but that she was working at it and staying strong.
“The courage it takes to walk in my truth daily…to prioritize working on myself and working through my fears, doubts, and depression every single day,” she wrote. “To fight every day to operate at my highest vibration… to continue to smile, lead, love and trust. It takes so much courage to live. To not dwell in life’s continual heartaches and disappointments, but learn to lean on the safety and consistency of my own strength.”
She added a beautiful selfie and thanked the universe for blessing her with courage. It was back in 2018 when the actress opened up about her anxiety and depression issues, posting a brave video on her Instagram account about her experience.
“So. I recorded this earlier this year, and wasn’t sure if I would ever feel comfortable posting it, and honestly I still don’t,” she wrote at the time. “But I also feel that it is more important to let someone in this world know that in the moments when life has left you feeling depleted, helpless, and alone, that you aren’t. From someone who struggles with anxiety and depression, I wanted to take a moment (or 3 mins) on #mentalhealthday and tell whoever needs to hear it-that you are loved, you are important, and you will get through whatever struggles you are facing.”
Sarpy shared that while most people use social media to display their “highlight reel,” she felt it was important to offer a “behind-the-scenes” honest look at her life. The video is a great reminder that appearances can be deceiving and it’s important to really listen to those in your life and see if they’re struggling.
While YR’s Elena isn’t battling these issues, the character is something of a hot mess right now and could use some encouraging words from people in her life. At least those still talking to her.
After all, after cheating on Devon with Nate, and then returning the favor once she started pursuing a relationship with Nate by sleeping with Devon, neither cousin is happy with her or wants to pursue a relationship. It’s about time she grew up a bit and stopped thinking of herself. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
