Beth Maitland, who plays fan favorite Traci Abbott on The Young and the Restless, is celebrating an amazing milestone! It was the actress’ birthday this past weekend, and she’s making some wishes that apparently include travel!
Maitland, who joined Y&R in 1982, has a very unique distinction among the many award-winning actors on the CBS soap. She’s the first actress to have won a Daytime Emmy for playing a Y&R character!
Traci became the girl everyone was rooting for as viewers saw her square off against her nemesis Lauren Fenmore (played by Tracey Bregman) first for the affections of Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) and, later, Brad Carlton (Don Diamont).
After Traci’s second union to Brad hit the skids in the early ’90s, Traci moved to New York and married her editor Steve Connelly (played by Greg Wrangler). She’d continue to make guest appearances on Y&R and it was eventually revealed that Traci and Steve divorced.
Maitland reminds Y&R fans why she’s an award-winning actress every time she’s on the show by delivering the goods, offering up heartfelt monologues and tearful moments when the script calls for them.
She’s the glue of the Abbott clan and one of the few people who can wag their finger at Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and live to tell about it!
