Brand new The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal a heartwarming moment for two members of the Winters clan.

Mother and Son Reunite!
Neil (Kristoff St. John) breaks down and decides to visit his mother, but at first it’s not to make peace. He initially wants his mom to back off and stay out of his life. She left him when he was a little boy, and he doesn’t see why he should let her back in now. Too many years have passed, and he doesn’t see the use in getting to know her.

Finding Out the Truth!
Neil thought his mother simply up and left him without reason. He was just a small child and couldn’t reason with why his mommy would go away and never return. Little did he know she left him because of her drinking problem. She thought it was better to leave than to have Neil suffer living with an alcoholic parent.

Lucinda (Nichelle Nichols) didn’t mean to lose touch, and since getting sober years ago, she’s fought tooth and nail to make amends. Getting better was hard, but it was harder to realize Neil would never forgive her. She sent letters over and over begging for a second chance but never was allowed to become a part of his life.

Burying the Hatchet!
Neil, who’s an alcoholic himself, can understand how liquor can take over someone’s life. Neil’s been down that road before as well and chose drinking over his own family. However, Neil was lucky his children are still by his side.
