The Young and the Restless: Soap Hub’s Daytime Week In Review

Everybody’s got an opinion…especially where their favorite daytime drama is concerned – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of The Young and the Restless week that was.

The Young and the Restless: Week In Review

The jury’s still out on a number of storylines being presented on screen. Is Adam (Mark Grossman) really as devoted to Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) as he seems? Maybe his claims would hold more weight if he didn’t constantly seek comfort from Sharon (Sharon Chase). And maybe Sharon’s claim that she’s hopelessly devoted to her new hubby would be more believable if she didn’t constantly prioritize her psychotic ex’s needs above everyone else’s.

Will Amanda (Mishael Morgan) really let Imani’s (Leigh-Ann Rose) latest insult stand, and will she really cut her newfound family out of her life for good? Or will she take Devon’s (Bryton James) advice and actually pursue a relationship with them? Should she even try? We can’t help but think that she IS better off staying far away from those toxic women.

Speaking of toxic relationships, it seems that the one between Summer (Hunter King) and Billy (Jason Thompson) has been dutifully healed. And it even had the benefit of strengthening the burgeoning romance between Billy and Lily (Christel Khalil). But do these two really have what it takes to go the distance?

Sure, Billy seems to have turned over a new leaf, especially where Adam is concerned, but this is like the guy’s 15th turned over leaf. If his past is anything to judge by, this is just a momentary calm before yet another storm.

Much like how Phyllis’s (Michelle Stafford) magnanimous approach towards Victoria (Amelia Heinle) is more than likely a brief intermission before the next battle of wills. Still, Red deserves some kudos for not scorching Vick’s earth.

Next, we turn to Summer (Hunter King) and her never-ending obsession with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope), the underling whom she insists is actually obsessed with her and devoted to utter destruction. What exactly is the point of this little diversion? If it’s to show exactly how petty Summer is, then mission accomplished.

Finally, there’s Abby (Melissa Claire Egan) and her baby blues. Her desperation to procreate is coming off as…well, desperate. And now that it seems that she and Chance (Donny Boaz) won’t be able to conceive the natural way, all bets are off as to how the brooding mommy to be will solve her problem.

Perhaps she’ll just steal an infant…she’s already a dab hand at stealing other people’s metaphorically babies – just ask Phyllis about a certain hotel Abby briefly usurped from her, then claimed as her “dream” – so why not try for literal ones.

Further YR Musings

So, Moses Winters, the son of Neil Winters and Sofia Dupre, the one who was born in Fall 2011, is now a sudden sixteen-year-old and an aspiring doctor to boot? Time to get him on the canvas and embroiled in either a teenage love story or a love triangle. Seems like Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind) and Jordan (Madison Thompson) are free. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
