The bad news is that Alyvia Alyn Lind is leaving The Young and the Restless, but the good news is the show is keeping the faith, er, Faith. Actress Reylynn Caster (The Big Show) is taking over the role of Nick and Sharon’s daughter.
Deadline reports that Caster will make her YR debut on Monday, April 12. Reportedly, Lind is exiting the show to focus on her series regular role in Chucky, a new Syfy series based on the Child’s Play horror films.
“I’m so happy to be joining the cast of The Young and the Restless and to step into the role of Faith Newman!” Caster has tweeted.
Caster’s other credits include American Housewife; Me, Myself, and I; and Think. Create. Repeat.
Lind joined the cast of YR in late 2011 when the writers aged the Newman heiress. For a while, she was splitting the role with Mckenna Grace, who last appeared as Faith in 2015. Both actresses were often busy with other projects, prompting the show to bring on the other when one was unavailable.
In recent years, Lind has been Faith’s primary player. The character of Faith was conceived after Nick and Sharon reconciled following their split after the death of their daughter Cassie (Camryn Grimes, who now plays Mariah, Cassie’s twin).
On her deathbed, Cassie had predicted that Nick and Sharon would have another daughter.
Soap Hub reported earlier this month that Lind had landed a role on Chucky.
While Lind has been able to juggle both YR and other projects in the past, it appears that this time, Faith’s story may be too heavy for schedules to be accommodated.
Recently, teenage Faith has been dealing with some peer-pressure angst and social-media bullying. She recently found out that the “boy” who was showing some interest in her turned out to be none other than her “friend” (more like frenemy or flat-out bully Jordan, played by Madison Thompson). The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
