The Young and the Restless recaps for July 19 – July 23, 2021, feature a number of surprise alliances, the instigation of a nasty custody battle, and so much more.
Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) find common ground thanks to their mutual distrust of Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner); Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) warns her partner-in-crime to be warry of Ole’Red and Billy Boy.
Phyllis later attempts to lure Tara into a false sense of security by “revealing” that she’d only been pretending to be her friend – up to that point, but luckily she has seen the light. Phyllis then issues a warning about trusting Sally.
Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) and Imani Benedict (Leigh Ann Rose) were greatly perturbed to learn that Naya Benedict (Ptosha Storey) had jumped bail. Amanda laid the blame for the entire situation at Sutton Ames’s (Jack Landron) feet.
She, Imani, and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) conspire to force Sutton into confessing to Richard’s murder; though his subsequent recorded exchange with Victor falls short of proving conclusively that he ordered the hit, it never the less proves substantial enough that an arrest warrant is issued and Naya is allowed to retract her self-incriminating statement.
Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) introduced Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi) to Johnny and Katie and explained that he’ll be moving in with her, while they’ll be spending more time at Billy and Lily Winters’s (Christel Khalil) abode.
Tara and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) debated whether she should or shouldn’t petition the courts for full custody of Harrison; Tara eventually decides to do so, which sends Ashland on a rampage. Victoria later finds him collapsed on her living room floor!
Sharon Rosales (Sharon Chase), Abby Chancellor (Melissa Ordway), and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) each received a text message (ostensibly) sent by Mariah (Camryn Grimes); the women are momentarily pacified, but Abby eventually convinced Tessa that the exchange was sent by someone other than Mariah.
Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) filled Sharon in on the truth concerning Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) breakdown and the deal struck between her, Victor, and Dr. Hedges (Michael Bofshever). Their talk briefly turns to their complicated relationship. Later that night, the pair are consumed with memories of one another.
With Devon Hamilton’s (Bryton James) help, Moses Winters (Jacob Aaron Gaines) managed to impress Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster) by arranging a run-in between her and her favorite band.
