The Young and the Restless recaps for May 24-28, 2021, feature Kyle fessing up, Ashland throwing his weight around, Chelsea keeping her victim guessing, and Sally deciding to give as good as she gets.
Kyle (Michael Mealor) reveals to Jack (Peter Bergman) the probability that he is the father of Tara Locke’s (Elizabeth Leiner) son, Harrison, and he requests that the two be offered sanctuary at the Abbott house; Jack readily agrees. Kyle later arranges for a DNA test to be conducted on him and the young boy.
In the meantime, Ashland (Richard Burgi) finally makes contact with Tara, and he tells her that he has filed for divorce and that he’s seeking custody of their son. When the contentious convo threatens to get out of hand, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) steps in, and orders Ashland to leave. Afterward, she warns Tara that if her actions hurt Summer (Hunter King), in any way, then she will put a halt to the goodwill that she’s been extending.
During a deposition, Victor (Eric Braeden) realizes that he did indeed know Richard Nealon – but by a different name. He further reveals that Richard had confided in him that he was searching for the child that his former lover had delivered and left at a fire station.
The story absolutely stuns Amanda (temporary recast Karla Mosley), who in turn questions the veracity of Naya’s (Ptosha Storey) story concerning her relationship with Richard. Amanda also considers the fact that Sutton (Jack Landron) was well aware of Richard’s interest in tracking his and Naya’s offspring.
Ashland issues Jack a warning: Don’t trust Tara. Over the next few days, Ashland enjoys the company of Victoria (Amelia Heinle) – which doesn’t sit well with Billy (Jason Thompson).
Summer struggles to cope with Tara’s overwhelming presence, and she winds up telling Kyle that she wants to postpone their wedding – at least until matters are settled between Tara and Ashland. Later, Tara insinuates that she’ll stay put in Genoa City – a prospect that greatly perturbs Summer.
Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) makes a big show of confessing her role in Rey’s (Jordi Vilasuso) poisoning and insisting that she’d been driven to the edge by Sharon (Sharon Chase) and Adam (Mark Grossman). Rey confides in Sharon that he’s not convinced that Chelsea is mentally ill.
After having Kyle and Summer lay the blame for their recent travails at her feet, a fed-up Sally (Courtney Hope) tracks Ashland down and offers him a deal – she’ll find out where Tara and Harrison are staying if he assists her in getting rid of an enemy; Ashland agrees.
After a bit of reconnaissance work, Sally correctly deduces that the Lockes are being sheltered by Jack, and she promises to fill in Ashland…as soon as Summer is out of the way.
On the anniversary of Neil’s (Kristoff St. John) passing, the Winters clan arrange a personalized walking tour commemorating the sights and sounds most treasured by the fallen patriarch. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
