The Young and the Restless recap for May 18-22, 2020, features a dip into the soap’s archives and a celebration of the Winters family.

The Young and the Restless Recap

This week was dedicated to the highs, the lows, and all the in-betweens concerning the Winters family. From Neil (Kristoff St. John) and Dru’s (Victoria Rowell) first meeting to the arrival of Malcolm (Shemar Moore) and the welcoming of Devon Hamilton (Bryton James).

Early Days

It wasn’t exactly love at first sight for Neil and Dru. But it’s an undeniable fact that the up and coming Jabot executive found the snappy mail clerk absolutely beguiling. So much so that he allowed himself to be roped into her scheme to impress the true object of her affection…her sister’s beau!

Third Party Interference

But Dru’s future husband (and the true love of her life) turned out to be Neil and not Nathan Hastings (Nathan Purdee). But if Malcolm, Neil’s younger brother, had had it his way, Dru would have wound up being his lady love. He never succeeded in his efforts to woo Dru, but Malcolm did wind up impregnating her (hello Lily!) which resulted in a whole host of drama.

The Winters Family Stands United

But dealing with drama was something that the Winters family grew accustomed to. So that probably explains how cooler heads prevailed when foster son Devon Hamilton got himself trapped in a lion exhibit and found himself in need of rescue!

And the family was also about giving back and paying their good fortune forward. Which would also explain their (successful) efforts to officially bring Devon into the fold and give him the Winters name.

YR Musings

Brad: “You tricked me into a marriage that you decided you wanted. Cassandra, it is demeaning and emasculating, and I want no part of it.” You know what Brad DIDN’T mind being a part of? All the millions of dollars that he inherited as Cassandra’s widower.

Victor: “You’re really inflexible aren’t you?” Victoria: “Boy, I wonder where I learned that?” Over two decades later and nothing much has changed between these two has it? The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
