The Young and the Restless recap for Wednesday, July 29, 2020 features a tearjerker from May 25, 2005. Cassie’s death brings out the best in all of the Newmans and promises a future to look forward to. Meanwhile, Daniel comes up with a plan to avoid the press, and JT is happy to welcome home his friend… with benefits?

The Young and the Restless Recap: The Last Goodbye

Cassie’s (Camryn Grimes) fever refuses to go down. She has a brain infection that isn’t responding to antibiotics. Victor (Eric Braeden) calls in doctors from Johns Hopkins. Olivia (Tonya Lee Williams) tells him there is nothing they can do. And that is the last we hear about them. Olivia also tells Victor that he should leave a dying Cassie with her parents. So, naturally, Victor goes right into the hospital room.

However, he doesn’t stick around long. Victor and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) say their goodbyes to the girl they’ve accepted as their granddaughter, and so do Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Noah. Then it’s just Cassie, Sharon (Sharon Case), and Nick (Joshua Morrow).

Both remind their daughter how much they love her, and how happy she’s made them. Cassie tells them she loves them, too, and promises them another little girl someday. She then dies.

Culprit Capers

Daniel is being hounded by the press for his role in Cassie’s death. Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Jack (Peter Bergman) hide Daniel out at the Abbott mansion, but he is planning to run away from Genoa City. Malcolm (Shemar Moore) makes Lily (Christel Khalil) promise not to go with him. She does. Then makes plans to go with him.

Moving Day

Mackenzie (Rachel Kimsey) wants to move back in with JT (Thad Luckinbill). Cool, says JT. Can they pick up where they left off? Tomorrow, JT is marrying Victoria. So how do you think this reunion went? The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
