The Young and the Restless recap for October 12-16, 2020, features the passing of an iconic character, Summer and Kyle’s marriage imploding before it even started, and so much more.
The Young and the Restless Recap Highlights
Depending on its mood, The Teardrop of Love can either be a help or a hinderance to the one who wears it. In the case of Dina Abbott Mergeron (Marla Adams), it imbued her with a few moments of absolute clarity that she spent making final amends with the off spring she abandoned.
And it even allowed her to recognize Traci (Beth Maitland) for the first time in years….talk about a three-hankie affair. Alas, the gem couldn’t stave off the ravages of time nor halt its owner’s passing.
So, with her affairs in order, Dina relaxed in her chair (couldn’t the show’s budget have rented a comfortable bed?) and breathed her last breath right in front of the whole assembled family. Minus Billy (Jason Thompson). We’re not even sure Billy knows that Dina has Alzheimer’s let alone that her time was nigh.
YR Musings
Boy, what a difference one little text message can make. Summer (Hunter King) spied a sweet exchange between Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle) and she did a runner on what was supposed to be her wedding day. Kyle, in turn, sought to replace her at Jabot and reactivated all his old dating apps. All in the span of 24 hours.
She’s been Miss Collins, Mrs. Nicholas Newman, Mrs. John Abbott, Mrs. Adam Newman, Mrs. Victor Newman, and Mrs. Dylan McAvoy. And now, Sharon (Sharon Case) – who has to constantly marry a Newman in order to justify her continued presence in a home situated on the family’s property – wants to become Mrs. Rey Rosales.
Because, honestly, what’s one more ill-advised union? Luckily, the wedding bells come complete with some good news: her second surgery was successful and she’s on the road to becoming cancer free!
Hands up anyone who’s pretty sure that Faith’s (Alyvia Alyn Lind) new friend, the one she’s spending her days communicating with via text, is going to turn out to be more than they seem. This a storyline with the potential to go dark so we’re keeping our eyes wide open.
A few years ago, Adam (Mark Grossman) was all about Sharon. Then he decided that he couldn’t live without Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan). Last week, he couldn’t sing Miss Lawson’s praises enough – she just, she gets him, you know? But now, he’s back on the Sharon bandwagon…and Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) had better watch his back.
Elena (Brytni Sarpy) and Nate’s (Sean Dominic) affair continued to cause damage to those around them. Amanda (Mishael Morgan) got the heave-ho from Nate and Devon (Bryton James) is starting to cotton on to the fact that something is very, very wrong with his girlfriend. How much longer till Elena cracks?
Despite a nightmare in which she was beseeched by five screeching infants, Abby’s (Melissa Ordway) pretty sure that she wants to have a baby with Chance (Donny Boaz). Here’s hoping he gets that job at the GCPD and isn’t hauled away and put in jail for his participation in that Las Vegas caper. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
