The Young and the Restless recap for Monday, May 4, features a classic episode from October 31, 1981, where Victor and Nikki prove that, right from the beginning, they were lying to each other, playing each other… and checking to see how the other would respond. A match made in… Genoa City!
Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) was used to getting hit on while she was stripping. She was a bit surprised to learn that one of the guys who’d been watching her particularly closely as she went through her act was the butler of one Colonel Austin, who invited Nikki out to “his” ranch, where he would interview her for a book he was supposedly writing.
Nikki went. Why not? She was a big girl who could take care of herself! Even when the Colonel started asking her all sorts of personal questions. She wondered if he was looking to add her to his collection of stuff. Not at all, Colonel Austin insisted. Still, Nikki wanted to leave.

He had Austin invite her to the ranch so Victor could check out whether the trashy stripper is good enough for him.
Victor offered to introduce Nikki to Victor Newman. Nikki got all big-eyed and impressed. So they were both lying to each other. But they expected the relationship that came from this sketchy beginning to be above board and last forever. Nope, and nope. You know how Oprah says, “When a person tells you who they are, believe them?” If only Victor and Nikki had… The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS.
